Cooking Tip of the Day!

If you want the shell on the Hard Boil Eggs to come off easier, after you boil them, immediately drain the hot water, then cover in cold water and cover with ice cubes, and let sit until they are cool.  This should make it so the shell comes off beautifully.

  1. I've found that fresher eggs are more difficult to peel - so the older your eggs are the better. I buy really fresh ones from my farmer's market and then let them sit in my fridge for a couple weeks - which still makes them fresher than the ones bought at a grocery store! Another tip is to take a pin and poke a little hole in the bigger bottom of the egg before boiling.

  2. This is how I do it. I put the eggs (raw) in cold water and bring them to a boil. As soon as the water boils, I take them off the heat, cover them and let them sit for 5 minutes. They are then perfectly hard boiled in my opinion. Then, I transfer them to an ice water bath till they are cool, and yes, this last step makes them easy to peel.
